          The municipality of Mertert is located in the east of Luxembourg at the confluence of the Sûre and Moselle.

          The municipality consists of two localities: Mertert and Wasserbillig. The population currently stands at 4,608 inhabitants including 3112 in Wasserbillig and 1496 in Mertert (situation on 31.07.2019).
