The BARENBRUG Group is a worldwide seed trading company based in the Netherlands. The company's activities are focused on the breeding, production and distribution of seeds. More than other comparable companies, BARENBRUG has specialised in grasses. Grass seed, both for forage and ornamental purposes, accounts for the largest part of the BARENBRUG group's turnover. Alfalfa is the most important crop, followed by clovers and other forage species.
Founded in 1904, BARENBRUG has remained a family business with subsidiaries in many countries around the world.
Breeding work in different climatic zones on all five continents has resulted in a portfolio of more than 300 varieties, which are included in a large number of recommended variety lists.
The annual seed production of the BARENBRUG Group currently amounts to more than 70,000 tonnes, which are marketed in around 100 countries worldwide. The BARENBRUG Group has been managed by Mr. Bastian Barenbrug since March 2007.
