Presentation of the EHTL
The École d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Luxembourg (EHTL) is the only public school in Luxembourg that provides training in the hotel, gastronomy and tourism sectors.
The qualifications offered are the Diplôme d’aptitude professionnelle (DAP, level 3 of the Luxembourg Qualifications Framework [CLQ]), the Diplôme de technicien (level 4 of the CLQ), the Diplôme de fin d’études secondaires générales (level 4 of the CLQ) and the Brevet de technicien supérieur (BTS, level 5 of the CLQ).
The EHTL’s Leitmotiv "Striving for Excellence" guides the development of the school, which aims to provide young learners with professional and academic skills in the various trades and training. The guiding principle in terms of interpersonal and behavioral skills in all the courses offered is the development of a sense of hospitality in the learners. Graduates therefore leave the school with the confidence that they have acquired, in addition to their trade, the appropriate foundations that will guarantee them success in their future professional life.
The EHTL aims to implement a pedagogy that is adapted to the real needs of the professional market and even to higher education. The teaching staff accompanies the pupils and students in the acquisition of knowledge and skills based on a solid professional foundation. Students are encouraged to identify their strengths, set goals, and build a personal academic pathway based on values and beliefs that can lead them to excellence.
Each student enrolled will have the opportunity to complete annual internships of more than ten weeks in Luxembourg or abroad (ERASMUS+), which represents a great opportunity to discover the reality of the working world. The experience gained during these internships guarantees a smooth transition between school and the professional world and very often a job offer before receiving the final diploma!
The small size of EHTL allows for personalized attention. The dynamic work atmosphere, the close ties with the teachers, the convivial moments and the participation in international competitions foster the development of a close school community spirit. The bonds created often last beyond the school years, as evidenced by the dynamism of the Alumni Association, founded over 50 years ago.
Opening of our temporary training restaurant
From end September, 2025, the École d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Luxembourg’s training restaurant will open its doors at its main establishment in Diekirch, 19, rue Joseph Merten, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at noon, except during school vacations.
The application restaurant gives students the opportunity to share the skills they’ve acquired during their courses in cooking, pastry-making and service with external customers.
The aim is twofold: to give young people a concrete opportunity to discover the pace and constraints of the professional world of gastronomy, and to give customers a glimpse of the skills developed through training at EHTL.
