
The concept originated in Rome in the 1950s, when bakers came up with the idea of making large slabs of oven-baked pizza, which they then cut into rectangular slices. The Romans adopted it in no time at all, and it's now part of our culture to enjoy a slice of pizza (savoury or sweet) in your hand, whether you're wandering down the street or comfortably seated in your favourite restaurant (which is our home, of course)... take a seat in a time warp... and let yourself be carried away to the heart of the Eternal City.
