The luca - Luxembourg Centre for Architecture is a private not-profit foundation created in 1992 under the name of "Fondation de l'Architecture et de l'Ingénierie" with the main mission of promoting architectural quality as a cultural fact.
Working in close collaboration with the main local players in the fields of architecture, urban planning, engineering and heritage (OAI, INPA, Master in Architecture Uni.lu), luca approaches through a multi-disciplinary and multi-scalar approach the problems and challenges faced by the different actors involved in the production of the built environment. As a leading player in the field of architectural culture in Luxembourg, luca has positioned itself as a platform for exchange and debate on the subjects of architecture, engineering, urban planning, landscape planning, design, and other related disciplines.
Each year, luca implements a cultural programme adapted to the diversity of its audiences: cycles of conferences and debates, exhibitions, guided tours, educational workshops, study trips, film and documentary screenings, etc.
During its thirty years of existence, luca has organised more than 250 conferences, 90 exhibitions – including 9 Luxembourg pavilions at the Venice Architecture Biennale – and 8 editions of the “Luxembourg Architecture Award”.
Furthermore, luca has an ambitious educational programme to raise young people's awareness of contemporary challenges in architecture, heritage and the environment.
Its “resource center” has a library with more than 7,000 titles and an archive with several models, around 40,000 graphic, audio and video documents.
