Tips for choosing your tie

The colour
Classic and timeless, the black tie goes with everything . Give priority when you go to an official ceremony or event, if you do not know what style to adopt.
Other safe values are brown, red, burgundy and dark blue. For sunny days, you can opt for light tones and pastels .
You can also choose a tie pattern with patterns. But be careful because it is sometimes difficult to harmonize them to a shirt. For example, do not wear a striped shirt with a patterned tie. Also, be careful to avoid overly coarse patterns, such as large peas or oversized stripes.
Tone on tone is also to be avoided : a tie the same color as your shirt, it's bad taste.
Size
If you are small, choose a shorter tie. Ditto if you are tall, choose a longer tie. To help you in your choice, take the buckle of your belt as a reference : the tip of the tie must touch it.
The material
For any event, and if you are eager not to make a mistake, wear a silk tie. Silk is the reference material , it brings a chic and formal side to an outfit.
For a more casual look, you can perfect your outfit with a linen, wool, cashmere or tweed tie. However, be sure to respect the seasons and, for example, prefer wool in winter and not in summer.
By cons, avoid synthetic models . Their price is interesting but, on the other hand, they are completely out of fashion and will bring only a nerdy side to your set.
