          How to choose your computer?

          choisir ordinateur

When it comes to buying a computer, it is sometimes difficult to navigate, as the models available on the market are numerous. Whether you want to invest in a desktop or a laptop, there are several criteria to consider. To help you make the right choice, Editus gives you some guidance!

Two choices are available to you: the desktop computer, the desktop computer , or the laptop . Your purchase will depend on how useful you are. Whether you choose one or the other, some components are to be considered and reviewed before opening your portfolio.

RAM : also called RAM, this is where all the data will be stored to be processed. It is of this that will also depend on the speed of your machine. If you only want to perform office automation, 2 or 4 GB of RAM will be more than enough. On the other hand, if you want to install games, it will be useful to take 8 or 16 GB of RAM .

The processor : it is somehow the brain of your computer since it is he who will perform the various tasks you want to achieve. On the market, two rival manufacturers coexist , AMD and Intel. Both are the same, and are particularly recommended for imposing applications (photo, video, games, ...). On the other hand, if you only want to spend time on the web and perform office work, cheaper processors, but just as effective, will be sufficient.

The graphics card : those who play a lot will be more interested in the permanent changes proposed by the two market leaders, ATI and NVIDIA. On a desktop PC, it is very simple to add or change a graphics card.

Hard Disk: This is where your files will be stored . Once again, the space you will need depends on the activity you want to do with your PC. If you surf only on the net, 500 GB will be enough. On the other hand, if you want to store photos and videos, you will need more storage capacity.

The screen: for a laptop, you will find screens ranging in size from 10 inches (25cm diagonal) to 18 inches (46cm diagonal). Having a widescreen will offer you an excellent view but against the more the screen will be large, the more it will be complicated to transport it, and at most the battery life will be solicited therefore, will decrease. Desktop PC screens vary from 19 inches (48 cm) to more than 27 inches (over 68 cm) .

Weight: It's important to consider this element if you plan to carry your laptop often enough. They usually weigh between 1 and 5 kg, and their weight will of course vary depending on the size of the screen.

Autonomy : for a laptop, it will vary between 2 and 9h. For extra battery life, you can always invest in an extra battery or an external battery. If it stays most of the time in the same place, it can be connected to the mains when it starts to discharge. The question, of course, does not arise for a fixed PC.

The graphics card : it is important for those who have a passion for games since they always ask for more performance . On the other hand, a graphic chip will be enough if you only carry out office automation. If you are a fan of photo or amateur video, a graphics card mid-range will be sufficient.

My choice is therefore on a laptop if I want to transport my computer anywhere. For this, it must be relatively compact.

My choice is therefore on a desktop PC if I am looking for a powerful machine, especially if I am an amateur / amateur video game. However, a laptop can also be as much by adding powerful components.

          What price ?

Today, there is a wide range of prices. Thus, if you know that you will not use your computer, it is useless to invest too much. By against, if you intend to use it permanently, it is advisable to pay a little more money, in order to have a more powerful machine, and will have a greater storage capacity.

It also depends on how useful you will be. If you only want to do office automation or surf the net, spending an astronomical sum is not necessary .

A laptop will usually cost more than a desktop PC, especially if you want it to have equally powerful components.

          A breakdown ?

Repairs are easier to perform on a desktop computer because its elements are larger and more accessible than those present in a laptop.

Its life also tends to be greater, and it is easier to upgrade a fixed machine by adding hardware (graphics card, RAM, etc.).
