Matte, gloss or satin paint: which one to choose?

          quelle peinture choisir

It is now possible to paint or repaint your interior in any color. But for which paint finish to choose: matte, gloss or satin? Editus.lu gives you the benefits for each of them, and helps you to make the best choice for the parts of your home.

          Matt paint

This type of painting is both synonymous with sobriety, but also with heat since applied to walls, and even only on a ceiling, it gives a room a cozy atmosphere .

By absorbing the light, the matte paint perfectly reaches the walls that have imperfections. On the other hand, it is important to know that it is in no way leachable , and that it resists very badly to the blows , leaving many visible traces on the walls.

Better avoid the matte paint in rooms where there can be a lot of passage, and where the walls are narrow . It remains to be favored in places like the living room, the dining room, the parents' room, the office and the library.

          The brilliant painting

The bright paint will bring shine to your walls , making perfectly clear the color you have chosen. In addition to reflecting the light, you will see that thanks to its brilliant effect, it enlarges the rooms in which it is used .

This type of paint is also recommended for repainting doors, window frames and skirting boards , but also to emphasize the architectural details of your home.

If it is leachable , provided you use only non-aggressive products, it is more than useful to prepare the walls on which will be put bright paint because otherwise any imperfection will be visible. For an impeccable result, it is also advisable to put 3 to 4 layers of bright paint on these walls.

The glossy paint does not fear moisture, it is particularly recommended to put in wet rooms such as the bathroom, toilet, or the kitchen.

          Satin paint

Satin paint , which is the most used in homes, perfectly reflects the light and give your rooms a warm side. This type of painting also makes it possible to enlarge small pieces , thanks to a trompe l'oeil effect.

Highly resistant to shock and easily washable, satin paint is only suitable for walls and ceilings in perfect condition : an imperfection, even minimal, will be seen enormously. A preparation of media to paint or repaint is necessary before giving the first stroke of paint.

The satin paintis perfect for wet rooms, but also those in which there is a lot of passage , and / or whose walls can deteriorate much more easily (entrance hall, a child's room, etc.). .
