The choice of a wooden facade can refresh the aesthetics of a house while improving its thermal performance. Indeed, wood is a noble and natural material, able to completely modify the exterior presentation of your building. But still it is necessary to know to choose the good essence and the most adapted style!
The issues of environmental protection and energy performance are at the origin of the implementation of new construction processes. The outer wall of a house is the part most exposed to climatic hazards. It also acts as a protective barrier against atmospheric aggressions and other influences coming from outside: cold, heat, fire, noise ... The exterior coating thus protects the building from all these hazards and increases its resistance, hence the advantage of opting for an ever more efficient facade. The realization of the wooden facade incorporates several components, the first of which is the skeleton of the building. We will not forget the sheers, the rain and vapor barriers, the insulation and the coating.
Wood is a lightweight, durable, adaptable, recyclable and renewable material. It is ideally suited to the challenges of energy optimization, being extremely efficient for envelope composition. Alone or associated with other materials, the wood gives the landscapes a rich and varied architecture. For these multiple reasons, the orientation towards a facade system with wood is becoming more and more important and is developing in large-scale projects, in rehabilitation as in new construction.
Originally, the wood facade is mainly found on half-timbered houses. These are half-timbered dwellings made of wood framing and plaster, mud or hollow bricks. So unless you own a cottage or a wooden house, there was little chance of making a facade made of wood. But today there is a technique of dressing the facade of your house, which allows to completely change the appearance of its outer wall: the wooden cladding.
It consists of applying a wooded "second skin" to your facade. At the heart of the various types of construction, wood invites itself and helps to mix all types of materials: brick, stone, zinc, aluminum ... Thus, wood can indeed intervene as a support or as an industrial product.
It is no longer rare to see houses with a wooden facade made of solid or reconstructed wood siding. This category also promotes excellent insulation of the house on the outside, while giving it a good look.
The wooden facade is a natural version of the exterior cladding. It is not necessary to apply a coating, but you can add a paint or stain. New, these facades are guaranteed for 10 years, provided they are made in the rules of art and well maintained.
Reconditioned wooden facades do not require special maintenance, apart from cleaning. It arouses the enthusiasm of many owners for its natural side that gives it a high potential for seduction and excellent integration into the environment. In addition, the intrinsic characteristics of the forest wood allow it to improve the thermal insulation of your home.
As for the choice of gasoline, you can consider solid wood facades usually from species naturally durable and unassailable by parasites, such as larch, Douglas or Western Red Cedar. There are also facades made of softwood (maritime pines and some varieties of fir trees). In other words, they have undergone a treatment in depth and under pressure, in order to be able to resist the infestations of insects, mushrooms ... This treatment is necessary for conifers that lack a high density, to give them stability and strength over time.
