The tip of the month - Cheese or dessert: terrace tiled or wood?

          A tiled or wooden terrace?

A terrace is cozy, it extends the life of the household outside, it can accommodate friends, or to stand by the feet fan and fan in hand (the opposite works less good).
Yes, but here it is, it is necessary to choose it to your taste, and that its maintenance does not reveal quickly a burden.
So wood or tiling, the heart of the handyman swings, because each of the materials has its own advantages and disadvantages.

In terms of installation, 'one point' for wood!

The installation of a wooden deck requires joists and wedges on which are fixed the blades of the selected species. The realization is relatively simple and fast.
For a tiled terrace, you must first pour a concrete screed or make a patch if the floor is already concrete, to obtain a smooth surface and level to accommodate the tiles of your choice.

When it comes to maintenance, the point is tiling.

Indeed, the wood tends to fade under the effect of the sun and bad weather. Anti-graying products and a good annual cleaning are de rigueur. Avoid high pressure cleaning which could damage the wood.
In everyday life, the cleaning is more delicate. An improvised barbecue, a sausage escaped from Aunt Odile's plate, and that's the drama! For the tasks of oil, you will need the land of Sommières ... and a little luck.
Side tile, a mop, and the task of oil is nothing but a nasty memory.

Question wallet, prom in the center.

The trend is to say that a tiled terrace is less expensive, but this is true if you compare a tile first price to a high-end wood, such as exotic wood. On the other hand, if you choose a tiling of superior quality tinted in the mass, the note can quickly climb compared to a terrace in pine.
If you want to combine the practicality of tiling with the warmth of wood, you can opt for parquet flooring. The current techniques are bluffing, the impression of the knots and ribs giving the illusion of a real floor. Another alternative is composite blades. Blend of recycled polyethylene and wood, they have better resistance to sun, stains and pests than raw wood, easy maintenance near the tiles and more!
Wood or tiles, it remains a question of budget, aesthetics and know-how in DIY. But anyway, be sure to choose a non-slip floor ... unless you want to get revenge on Aunt Odile.
