DIY: create the most original custom-made shelf
Shelves serve everything: to store books or objects, to dress a wall, to give the stamp to a room while remaining purely decorative ... The functions are numerous and the design also. If your room has an atypical layout or you have to deal with improbable lines, you better make your own shelf. Prepare well

The manufacture of the shelf

Then assemble the boards together by screwing them with the appropriate material . Be sure to alternate the boards on one side and the other to create the zigzag. Once your shelf structure is made, you can fix it to the wall using visible brackets. For an invisible effect, prefer the pegs that come to lodge in the wall, and that you will screw in the holes previously realized in wooden planks. Finally, place the decoration of your shelf. On the empty slots, place an alternation of books and beautiful objects, while the solid spaces will be used as frames for photos. To give even more originality to your shelf, build a second that you fix a little below the first by playing on the heights . You can also paint the different panels of your shelf in different colors, which will give it a contemporary touch.

Here is the alternative solution to achieve it, which will require to drill a few holes, but you will realize in two phases three movements. You will first have to hunt some boxes of wood of different sizes and species to come to create the contrast. Boxes of wine bottles, old kitchen cupboards, fruit boxes ... Feel free to vary the types! Once a sufficient number of crates have been assembled, prepare them to receive varnish or paint. For this, sand them with sandpaper. Then put the varnish or paint. While the crates are drying, make marks on the wall alternating heights. Finally, fix metal brackets on which you will place your crates. That's it !
