April marks the return of sunny days, the sun is more and more present and the temperatures are warming up! Happiness for budding gardeners, who can finally return to the garden without fear of the cold. But what to do in this month to enhance its green space, and prepare it for the summer? Editus tells you everything!

As in March, using a claw, regularly stir the earth around your plantations . Feed it with fertilizer or decomposed manure: you simply need to dispose of it over.

On the plantation side, sow the annual flowers such as poppies , poppies , nasturtiums and sunflowers . Also think about summer by planting the bulbs that will bloom at that time.

The period is also conducive to planting perennials and climbers , as well as evergreen shrubs and those with summer bloom.

Take care of them, if you already have some in your garden: it's time to cut them. Do the same for your hedges, so that they have a beautiful shape.

If earlier in the season you have not had the opportunity to prune your roses , there is still time to do it. Cut the entire dead branches. As for the others, remove them only to 2/3.

It is also time to maintain your massifs : if you have daffodils, hyacinths or tulips, remove the withered flowers, but without touching their leaves.

Do you have dahlias? Stop them: for that, you just need to take the young shoots of about ten centimeters.

At the harvest level, it's time to pick up asparagus, leeks, chicory and spring sprouts .

Many vegetables are to plant in this month: spinach, peas, broccoli, potatoes, white onions, and many root vegetables (carrots, beets, parsnips, radishes). You can also plant different herbs such as parsley, tarragon, thyme, dill, etc.

In this period, frosts are still to be feared. To take no chances, leave your crops under bells and frame . Nevertheless, when the sun is present and the temperatures warm up, ventilate them.

It's time to plant your strawberries, raspberries, currants and blackcurrants. Do the same with rhubarb .

For now, there is no question of harvest, it will take your trouble.

When temperatures approach 10 degrees, put slug pellets on the bottom of your trees and shrubs if necessary.

Take care of your lawn, mowing it regularly. The correct height is between 1.5 and 2 cm. To get a perfect outline, also make the borders: make them ideally by hand, in order to obtain a precise outline.

It's also a good time if you have to sow sod . Nevertheless, you must have prepared your land in the previous months.

Since sunny days are back, start preparing your terrace too: take out your garden furniture and clean it . If your table and chairs are made of wood, do not forget to treat them.

To make your terrace or balcony a real green space, you can start to prepare the planters and planters that you will install there.

Consider watering your plants more than in winter : give them water about every 10 days. Do the same with your succulents and cacti, but at a lower frequency: every 3 weeks.

Repot plants that are too cramped in their current pot , transferring them to larger containers.
