Adopting an animal must be preceded by a long questioning: the approach is fraught with consequences and should not be taken lightly, simply to satisfy the whims of a child for example. In order to perfectly successfully welcome a new 4-legged companion in your home, some valuable tips are to remember.
Before you start
Before embarking on the path of adoption, you must question yourself at length to make sure you do not regret your choice after a few months. Indeed, a cat or a dog is not that an adorable ball of hair which one will have pleasure to cuddle all day long. It is above all a living being, with a character and special needs, who can live with you for almost 15 years.
Take stock of your budget and your ability to bear the costs of owning an animal (food, vaccines, sterilization, identification, unforeseen veterinary fees that can quickly become exorbitant ...). You must also think about what you will do with your pet during the holidays. Unfortunately, many of our companions are abandoned during holidays because their teachers did not anticipate this situation. If you can not go with your pet, there are guard solutions , but they represent a financial cost to take into account.
If you work all day long, perhaps you prefer the company of a cat to that of a dog. Felines tolerate loneliness better and need less attention than canines, especially during their first months of life. You must estimate the time you have to devote to your pet so that it does not suffer from your absences.
Choose also your pet according to your type of dwelling. A big dog in a small apartment will be unhappy, because it will lack space. Think about the well-being of your future animal first and foremost so that cohabitation is as good as possible.

Companions of all ages and races are looking for new families.
Adopting in this type of structure allows for a double good action: the animal you have chosen being saved from the refuge, it also frees up a place for a new congener. In order to guarantee permanent adoptions, adopters are generally required to provide certain supporting documents and to pay a financial contribution to accommodate an identified, sterilized and vaccinated animal.
Post-adoptive visits are sometimes organized to ensure the welfare of the animal in his new family.
