Three tips for running in cold weather

How to dress to run in cold weather?

With falling temperatures, we are very much in want to stay warm under the duvet, or eat a double ration of raclette. The bravest, they keep their motivation to go running. While some opt for the comfort and warmth of sports halls , others choose to continue to practice their sport outdoors.  But how to avoid being refrigerated? Here are our tips for choosing the sportswear and accessories that suit you best.

          A triple layer of clothing

Three layers of clothing are necessary for your race to remain a pleasure despite a sometimes capricious weather and polar temperatures.

Thus, a first layer (like a t-shirt made of synthetic fibers) worn on the skin, will absorb and evacuate perspiration. However, avoid wearing cotton, this material tends to retain moisture.

Then, the second layer of clothing aims to conserve heat. Choose a fleece sweater or sweater. The latter, lighter than wool, allow the body to breathe better.

Finally, an impervious garment constitutes the third layer : to protect yourself from the wind and the cold, equip yourself with a GoreTex jacket, more adapted than a windbreaker.

For the lower body, opt for a long garment . They will help keep your joints and muscles warm, thus limiting the risk of possible injury.

Protect your head, hands and feet

When you run, keep your ears warm . You can opt for a hat or a headband in GoreTex. This material will avoid you to find yourself with an accessory filled with sweat.

In order to keep your hands warm, wearing gloves is necessary . Choose fine, breathable gloves rather than ski gloves or woolen gloves.

For your feet, choose comfortable socks that allow them to breathe. The more cautious, they can invest in insulating soles. Side race shoes , be sure to choose a model with the least mesh possible. This is where the water will seep when your feet meet a puddle of water or snow.

          Be visible!

With the night getting out in the morning and early in the evening, you have to think about warning motorists of their presence on the roadside. To run safely, wear a touch of color, but especially a cuff or reflective jackets.
